Why The Internet Should Be Censored

Why does censorship need to be implemented? It’s a topic that is up for debate. The word “CENSOR”, which is used by many people, makes them uncomfortable. It seems that our freedom of expression and speech is being denied. William Westmoreland remarked, “Without any censorship in the public’s mind things could get very confusing”. Cyberbullying is one of the most important reasons to censor the internet.

Cyberbullying can be triggered by un-censorship. Cyberbullying involves harassing or threatening another person. This act is designed to harm a person verbally, psychologically, and physically. Blogs, email and social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter are used by many people. It could ruin many people’s private and social lives. It can also cause people to have mental illnesses such as anxiety or depression.

Today’s generation is exposed daily to hate speech, adult websites and misleading content. Internet is flooded with dangerous clips of sexual abuse that affect innocent minds. It is a fact that children are not mature enough to differentiate between right and wrong. They have a poor sense of self-control, which makes them more susceptible to being misled. According to one study, 36% will find more negative content if they accidentally come across it.

Piracy involves the illegal reproduction and distribution of forward. Piracy poses a serious threat to both national and individual security. A threat to security as spies of other countries may illegally gain access to country’s secrets such as military secrets and confidential government information. Internet is a great way to take advantage. Individuals are at risk because they could exploit the hard work of others. Likewise, people’s work is theirs just as much as any of their possessions.

It was said that we should let the children talk about what they read. If parents and their children talked together, there would be less need for censorship.

In conclusion, I think that censorship is a good way to improve the Internet as well the entire world. Un-censorship can lead to cyberbullying and exposure to adult websites, as well as piracy. We can still censor online content so that the site remains an excellent source of news and social activity.
